OLEBR 24,000 mAh Portable Solar Battery Charger: Review

OLEBR 24,000 mAh Portable Solar Battery Charger: Review

Once again, on a busy Saturday afternoon heading from south London to go see some live music, my phone fails me. The battery chooses to give me it’s last moments halfway through writing a text message agreeing where to meet my friend and leaves me in limbo, unsure of where to get some charge on my phone; do I go back home, do I just continue and hope to spot them somewhere near the station?

Frankly, I had had enough and decided that with all of the solar charging products out there it was time to try them out and see how I got on.

I did look at the Soluser 25,000 mAh but for my intended use I didn’t need something so robust but decided that the OLEBR, as one of the market leading products currently available in the mobile or cell phone solar charger sector, from a trustworthy manufacturer. Here are some of the key specification details:

OLEBR 24,000 mAh Portable Solar Charger Power Bank, Product Overview

Upon arriving in the post, the charger seems smaller than you might expect, which actually means it is very portable and at only 0.4 kg it is extremely lightweight.

So for it’s size does it give you the needed power?

Definitely. With 3 USB ports it is possible to be charging 3 different devices at any one time. 2 of the USB outputs are 2A so will charge quickly whilst the third is 1A; sufficient but slower. If you are just using it for your own phone then it will be fully charged in about 1 to 1.5 hours, and the pack can support 5-6 chargers . At this point the battery pack will need topping up.  The manufacturer recommends charging from the mains before heading out, but when you are outside whether on the move or at another location you can be supplementing the charger with direct solar power.

This review will talk you through the OLEBR 24,000 mAh solar charger features and why I think it’s one of the best solar phone charger products available.

The product and packaging

Power on the Go

At only 16.2 x 7.7 x 2.2 cm the product is only a little larger than a typical SMART phone and if, like me, you are usually navigating the urban planes or even camping, then you will have a backpack or other means to carry the device. At less than half a kilo you are unlikely to feel weighed down by the product and if you keep this solar power pack charger with you, running out of phone battery will become an issue of the past.

24,000 mAh is a fairly large capacity battery (88.8 Ah) which means it will last for a considerable length of time away from any power source. I also recommend leaving the charger on the window sill or by some natural light when you are at home or stationary as this keeps it topped up.

There is circuit protection so you can’t overcharge and damage it. The light LEDs also let you know when it is fully charged and you can pack it away.

Camping or urban use?

Ultimately, both! If you are trying to be more sustainable with your energy you can carry this with you and charge yours and your friends devices when camping, at the office, in the park, on the train or even walking in the city.

The 3 USB ports mean you can charge 3 devices at the same time. 24,000 mAh is one of the biggest capacity portable solar battery chargers you will come across and so it meets most charging demands.

Additional Features

As the product is intended to be taken for camping trips, it has 2 LED lights on the front edge which act like a torch. This is a great function which can help you out of many a tricky situation.

With only 3 colours available, the choice is limited, but black, red and yellow will usually meet most people’s preferences. I think there might be some more options in the future, as it is pretty new on the market.

Who is the OLEBR 24,000 mAh Solar Charger Power Bank for?

The sleek design, portability and functionality make this product pretty much accessible for all people who use their SMART phone or other devices every day.

The solar charging capability make it suitable for those who will either be outside, hiking and camping, and even those who are in a single spot throughout the day, such as at work or in the park.

It is not gender specific by any means but I do think this could be a top Christmas present men will enjoy. I tend to find Christmas quite overly commercialised with people buying all kinds of gifts which are not useful or are forgotten about very quickly. Why not buy cool Christmas presents for your loved ones which meet a direct need so many of us have concerns about (the reducing lifetime of our phone batteries) and contribute positively towards the environmental shift we are making on the planet!

The OLEBR 24,000 mAh is compatible with all Android and iOS devices, so is safe and universal!

There is even a great deal on Amazon at the moment. If you buy 4 of these chargers, priced individually at £25.99, you will save 20% overall!

Happy charging!

I truly believe that if we all make the shift to using more renewable energy for even the small things, we will be having such a positive contribution to the transition to a cleaner environment.

When your phone does go flat, just connect it to one of the USB outputs and leave it to charge, on the move or not.

In an ideal world you would be able to charge using renewable energy directly from the mains. This is changing with companies like Ecotricity and Bulb in the UK. If you want to find out more about how you can feed only renewable energy into your OLEBR 24,000 mAh power bank, look at creating your own home solar charging system.

I hope you enjoyed this review and are looking forward to creating and using renewable energy from the sun. If you have any questions or want to leave your own review, leave a comment below.
